The idea for a series of Covid-19 still life watercolors came only after I had painted three or so of them. I believe Stay-at-Home orders have brought out the best in people. Sure, we get crabby, especially when we are trying to be so careful, and then someone seems oblivious and gets into our space (anything short of 6 feet). Most people have been very conscientious, respectful, and generous. The virus has caused us to slow down, weigh our priorities, and conclude that health really does trump money. My Mother used to say, "When you have your health, you have everything." Mom was right.

My community in Goldsboro, NC, has been amazing. The first of the still life paintings was the strawberry. The strawberry came from a local grower and was in the quart gifted to me by a couple who are dear friends. So, I thought, wouldn’t it be nice to do a painting of one of those luscious strawberries and gift it to them? After which, I recalled having a box or more of manufactured watercolor cards on which I could paint it. Thus, a collection began.
